donating hair for cancer patients

I have grown my hair for 9 years now and I am finally ready to get an easy wash & go hairstyle. I would really like to donate my hair to the children who need it. Could you please tell me how to go about doing this? I don't want to get it cut just to go out with the trash. I know that someone could use it. Thank you.
