This
weeks question from Val L.
Hi George, I'm 48 and my hair is getting very thin. Is there any new technology
that, (without spending a fortune) can get hair to come back?
Answer:
Dear Val, Thanks for sharing your hair concerns with me. My hair has also thinned
as I've aged. To date I have found nothing for hair loss worth spending money
on. Over the years I've tried it all and watch many women & men spend time and
money on topical lotions and potions to no avail. The advancements for correcting
hair loss have been mainly in the area of (hair replacement) with micro grafts.
Plastic surgeons can now move individual strands of hair from the back to thinning
area's across the top with close to natural effects. It's costly but does work
and is permanent. The only problem I see with this approch is that as we continue
to thin more hair must be replaced over time. If
the hair is straight, using a permanent wave to give the hair a curly or wavy
look can make thinning hair appear thicker and fuller. But this must be repeated
as the hair is cut and grows out. Personally, I think a custom shaped to fit hair
cut along with a styling gel, mousse, lotion or styling spray can make hair loss
appear less noticeable over all. If the hair's natural color is dark, having it
lightened can also make thinning hair appear thicker. I also recommend and use
a vitamin supplement designed for hair called ( Hair
Formula 37 ) to encourage healthy natural hair growth. See
