The heating element is responsible for heating up the plate and in most cases the standard of heating element used is medium to poor. The most common being a PTC or Ceramic coated heating element. In a lot of the low end straighteners coil or wire heaters are commonly used. The PTC or Ceramic Coated heaters just don't produce the maximum amount of far infra red heat or get hot enough. This mixture of FIR rays and Negative irons get suspended above the surface of the plate unable to be discharged until contact with the hair, like a layer of conditioner that penetrates from the inside out.
